[PS Vita] Sen no Kiseki (閃の軌跡)

Game Title: 英雄伝説 閃の軌跡 (The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki)
Creator: Nippon Falcom
Official Site: 閃の軌跡
Language: Japanese
Platform: PS Vita
Walkthrough:英雄伝説 閃の軌跡 神攻略wiki
Story Plot:

If you really ask me the story plot, I still can't get the years right. 'cause honestly speaking, this game's timeline is along side with Zero no Kiseki and Aoi no Kiseki. So I am still a little unfamiliar to the timeline play from the rest of the Kiseki series. But from the timeline provided by Falcom, it should be about a year since Sora no Kiseki SC and a few months after the creation of Special Inspection Team (特務支援課) in Zero no Kiseki.

The story, as mentioned year ago, set in the Erebonia Empire (エレボニア帝国). So, our new main character, Rein Schwarzer, a foster son of Schwarzer Family (one of the four well-know noble family in Empire) decided to enroll himself into the Military Academy, Thor Military School (one of the oldest military school in the nation and also very well-known) to study. There, he met his new classmates/buddies who are brought together by the school to form a new team , . Little did he know that his whole life will change as the Goddess decides to spin his wheel of fortune, but to the good or the worst?

Personal Opinion:

I had been a great fan of Legend of Heroes from Falcom since 2008 and I have played all of the series. And as usual, I just pre-order the limited edition of this game (including purchasing a PS Vita just for this game). Seriously, I just love how they write the stories and the bonds between the characters.

Now the only thing I hate about Falcom sometimes is that the game play is seriously long, and it is very hard to know where are the hidden quests are unless you spend your time hunting around the town and speaking to everyone in the town. And the quests are very random. To a point that I find it quite ridiculous. But other than that, I am fine with the game play. (Since I already expected myself to spend more than a month on this game)

But never-the-less, I give my credit to the script writers. They have done a near-excellent job in bringing out each of the character's personality. And I really enjoy every single bits of stories for all the characters. Well... I mention near-excellent. Reason being, I am pretty sad that they never go into details for a few of my favourite characters. BUT! I believe with the trend Falcom is doing, they will come up with a continue story next year or so. (I hope, since I am really very curious).

Graphics:

As per usual, Falcom make full use of Sony graphics to the max. Though because the game play does not use too much of 3Ds so it is still not fully utilized. (This is for Vita, I am not too sure about PS3). I will say Falcom never failed to give me the best graphic. But there is just one problem. Maybe it is due to the large amount of graphic used, the loading of the game play seems to take slightly longer. I guess even Vita can't support this kind of game well. However, the graphics are really good.

Sound + Effects:
Impressive as usual with occasional BG music used from previous series. But never the less I still love them all. And I totally love the ending, "I miss you". It has such a nice tune and rhythm to it. But sadly, it is not released yet so my guess is it will be loaded in the OST for the game.

And when we talk about effects. Hmm... I will say that it never change too much either from the Kiseki series. But the effects are still very good.

Overall feeling for the game:

Music: 10/10 (I just love the music this time round, since it fits the places well)

Graphic: 8/10 (I took points off as some part of the graphic looks a little odd)

Story plot: 10/10 (Love the stories and love the characters, how could you not love them?)

Game play: 8/10 (This game is really time consuming and it takes brain to play the game sometimes. However, it is still better than Nayuta no Kiseki which feels a lot like YS.)

Overall, I will give this game a 9/10 rating. Wonderful stories and lovely characters. Love how each of the characters interact with one another and it simply is interesting. But... (I know I use a lot of 'buts' right now)
